Our only dream left is to escape. Our days are heavier than words can describe. We wake up every morning with pain, fear, and uncertainty. Our basic needs, such as safety, food, freedom and dignity have become a luxury which we can no longer afford.
We do not dream anymore of building a future here. We only think of leaving here. This is not because we do not love our homeland, but because we feel that our homeland does not share this feeling with us. It breaks our hearts. It is starving and killing us.
We dream of a place where we can breathe without fear; sleep without explosions; and wake up with hope, instead of despair.
We are not looking for miracles. We are just exhausted. We are tired of surviving, pretending to be strong, and waiting for the world to care for us.
Migration has become our only escape; not from responsibility, but rather from a place that has become unlivable.
We are still human and deserve to live.
