The Mom Without Arms

Imagine being a mother without arms. Your little daughter calls you “Mama,” yet you are helpless and unable to hold her .

Nebal Al-Hissi, 25 years old, lost her two arms as a result of an Israeli airstrike. Her life has been broken into pieces while she was cradling her one-and-a-half-year-old baby, Rita. She suffered severe injuries that led to the amputation of her arms, just below her two elbows. She has now damage in the liver and one of her legs, besides painful scars on her body caused by burns.

Today, Nebal is no longer able to move. She cannot take care of her child. She cannot feed her, change her clothes, or wipe away her tears. Nebal has been deprived of the simplest rights of motherhood and that is to embrace her little girl. On top of that, she is now homeless after the house of her family was destroyed.

Dear people in whose hearts there is still a place for mercy: Nebal is crying out for your help. Medical intervention is needed urgently; artificial arms could bring back a glimmer of hope to her. At least, it would allow her to get back some of her motherhood. Every day that passes is deepening her pain and her feeling of deprivation of the most basic maternal right in life, and that is, to hold her daughter, Rita close to her chest.
